On Saturday, June 4th, residents of Henderson saw a giant water slide take over 1,000 feet of one of their city streets. As part of the City of Henderson’s Slide into Summer! Event, Slide the City set up their signature giant water slide.
Slide the City is an organization that travels all over the country setting up giant water slides for residents to get a break from the summer heat and come together with community events.
This was their first time in Southern Nevada.
The water levels at Southern Nevada’s Lake Mead dropped to all time record lows this past week. Theories and discussions centered around water use reductions from the Colorado River to replenish the reserves of the man-made reservoir have been met with resistance and confusion in some cases.
Lake Mead accounts for most of the water used by residents in Las Vegas and the surrounding cities. Forecasting shows Lake Mead water levels well above where they are now for 2017 so this record low hopefully won’t last long!
